For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you might have seen the Five Facts Name Tag I posted the other day. It was fun! I thought I’d post it here for those of you who haven’t seen it, and I’d love to see your answers.
1. What would you name your alter ego?
Vesper Verity Vita. It refers to prayer, truth, and life; Vesper’s also a Bond girl & Verity’s the sweet & determined Poldark character; and it’s alliterative like a Stan Lee superhero. Boom. 😀
2. What name would people be surprised you like?
Caden & Caley
3. What would you name your house?
Ballyboys! 😀 Bally’s Irish for “place of” and there are eight people in my house and I’m the only girl.
(I should also note that Ballyboys was a last minute idea — I’d previously named our house [yes I did] Acorn Manor [I think. I can’t remember for sure!], because we have a lot of oak trees and a looooooooottttt of acorns, and because Manor sounded hilariously grand for our modest not-big home. I named our first house, which had been my grandmother’s and was smaller than a postage stamp, An Cead Cottage — which I believe means The First Cottage [an cead means “the first” in Irish, unless it doesn’t — anyone who knows Irish, feel free to correct me!])
4. What would you rename yourself if you had to use a name that had none of the letters from your name?
Zuzu!
5. What would you rename Instagram?
FotoFix
There were a few other Instagrammers who participated, and I was particularly impressed with some of the ideas for renaming Instagram, like Meagan at Tulip By Any Name who said “Happy Snappy” and Alexia Mae at Names Daily who said “Pixel Place.” So clever!
A couple of you also participated on IG but I won’t link to them unless you want me to (I live in fear of publicly posting something I shouldn’t!), or feel free to leave your link in the comments! Or just your answers if you prefer!
Oh this is so fun, but so hard!!
1. What would you name your alter ego?
— Maria Elena. Maria for Mother Mary of course and Elena just because I love it and because with Maria it makes the combo super Italian, and I speak Italian, and I feel like other Grace is super Italian.
2. What name would people be surprised you like?
— I actually probably think a lot, but Brayden, Esmeralda, and Vienna come to mind first.
3. What would you name your house?
— I’ll go with my dorm room, because my roommate and I have actually already named it The Organized Disaster. Because it kind of looks kind of like a disaster, but we know where absolutely everything is (except for my scissors and her makeup brush).
4. What would you rename yourself if you had to use a name that had none of the letters from your name?
— This one is the hardest! But I’ll go with Lily 🙂
5. What would you rename Instagram?
— Okay, I lied, this one is the hardest! Part of me wants to get sassy and go with “Pictures of your dinner and maybe some other stuff” but that’s a little long for an app name. So, I’ll go with “Memory Palace” based of the ancient Greek and Roman ways to remember things, but also, let’s be real, Sherlock.

Fantastic answers! I loved the last bit, “let’s be real, Sherlock.”
I LOVE Sherlock although holy smokes, The Abominable Bride scared the pants off me!

My dad is obsessed with Sherlock, and he was constantly like “Gracie, you need to watch this.” So I finally did, and now I’m completely obsessed with it like him 🙂
The Abominable Bride scared me too! But I loved it, it was so interesting!

Grey Gardens is, for sure, my favorite “pop” cultural reference. I love slyly slipping it into conversation and seeing if people know what I’m talking about.
Also, I came across this fantastic blog post a few years ago, and it still cracks me up.

Ooooo, fun!
1. Jody. It’s cool, it’s kicky, it’s so unlike my actual self that it must be perfect for an alternate, self, right?
2. Kolbrun, Solveig, Sigrid, Thora…I adore these bada@@ Icelandic girls’ names that I would never have the audacity to actually name a daughter of mine, being as I don’t actually live in Iceland.
3. Our house is called The Shed. We just bought it a few weeks ago, a brand-new brown prefab sitting smack in the middle of a rocky dirt patch that will, one day, we hope, be an actual yard. Since we live in Phoenix, I affectionately started calling it Little Shed in the Desert, or “The Shed” for short.
4. Um, hmm. My name is Julia, which eliminates three vowels right off the bat. Rose? I like Rose. Let’s go with Rose.
5. Filterama.
