Happy feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary!!

I love Our Lady and I love her name (and all names relating to her) and I love all of you (!! ❤ ) and so for today’s feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary I’m delighted to do a giveaway of my book of Marian names!!

To enter, just comment on this post with the Marian names you’ve given your kiddos or — as some did on the Instagram post I did for this giveaway — with your own Marian name or the coolest Marian name you’ve heard in real life. Guaranteed I’ll love them all! I’ll choose one winner from the commenters here, and one from those on Instagram — it’ll close tomorrow (Friday) night at midnight eastern time, and I’ll randomly choose the winners on Saturday. Mother Mary for the win!! ❤ ❤ ❤

My book, Catholic Baby Names for Girls and Boys: Over 250 Ways to Honor Our Lady (Marian Press, 2018), is available to order from ShopMercy.org and Amazon — perfect for expectant parents, name enthusiasts, and lovers of Our Lady!

  1. I don’t know if this counts, but your idea of having intials being AVE is the coolest Marian “name” I’ve seen. But if that doesn’t count, I would go with Regina.

  2. We have a MaryAnn and a Chiara Marguerite Marie. When brainstorming names for our next daughter we wanted to honor Mary, but didn’t know how. We already had Caecilia picked out as a first name. During family prayer one night and asking for God’s guidance and inspiration for a name, MaryAnn instantly burst forth with Caecilia ROSE. Not the most unique Mary name, but the most obviously divinely inspired and so possibly my favorite of our bunch. Don’t tell the others though. 🙂

  3. My oldest daughter is Miryam, Aramaic form of Mary. My husband likes to call it the “original” form before it became Maria in Romance languages and Mary in English. (:

  4. I only have 1 boy thus far, but if he had been a girl, he would have been Genevieve Maria. I also considered Maire, the Irish form of Mary. Rosemary is another favorite.

  5. My favorite Mary name is Stella Maris. (The most beautiful church in all of San Francisco is Star of the Sea.)

But we have a daughter named Margaret, which feels like a Marian name to me.

    • It does, doesn’t it? I considered putting it in my book, and ultimately decided not to … but I did include both Pearl and Daisy, both of which are meanings of Margaret/Marguerite, so I probably should have included it!

  8. Our son Gabriel was named in honor of Our Lady. His birth on a Saturday morning made the name feel just right as we’ve attended so many Saturday morning Masses in honor of her.

  9. Also Kate I thought you might like this. I’ve lately been liking the combination Hope Sophia as a terrific way to honor our Lady. The aspiration “Hope Seat of Wisdom” is one my husband uses often.

  10. My name is Mary, and our son is Joseph. We’re still deciding on a name for our baby boy due in November. Thank you for the giveaway and for all you share here!
