For this beautiful Feast of Holy Mary, Mother of God, I thought I’d post a few of my favorite Marian names:
Rose (and many of its variations, including Rosa, Rosalie, Rosemary, and Roisin)
Immaculata and Immaculee
What are your favorite Marian names? Happy New Year to you all!
One of my friends named their little girl Regina Marie, which is probably my favorite. She was born during the Easter season, the season when we primarily address Mary as queen when we sing or recite the Regina caeli.
The Irish television program “Ballykissangel” used to feature a character called Assumpta. I’ve always liked it, but I’d be too afraid to name a child that because of the unfortunate playground nickname possibilities.
I’ve met Hispanic women called Lourdes and Guadalupe (or Lupe), which are lovely names, but this works better for some Marian apparitions than others. I would not encourage “Knock” or “Medjugorje!”

My 5 year old is named Mari, which is a Scandinavian form of Mary. She often goes by her first and middle names, since she loves being called “Mari Rose”.
Though she wasn’t due for a few more weeks, Mari was born on the Feast of the Annunciation, so we were glad that we had already chosen a Marian name.

We gave my daughter the middle name of Quinn, a derivative of “Queen” for Mary, Queen of Heaven.
