I planned to post this tomorrow on the actual feast of the Immaculate Conception, but I've heard from enough people in real life that have been surprised that tomorrow is a Holy Day of Obligation (as opposed to transferred to Sunday) that I thought it might be helpful to post tonight, in case you didn't know, so you can make plans to attend Mass tomorrow (before 4:00, so it counts for the feast day and not for Sunday). Fun fact: Christmas and Immaculate Conception are the only two Holy Days of Obligation that never transfer to the nearest Sunday! I didn't know that until I was discussing this with some of my dear friends (thank God for friends who take seriously the same things I do!) and had to look up whether or not it transferred (I didn't know either!). ... I have a bunch of #names in my book related to Our Lady's title "Immaculate Conception" -- a title that's also an event as well as a preparation (and so fitting that it falls during #Advent -- the season of preparation). (The Immaculate Conception is also the patroness of my diocese! @albanydiocese) ... I was thinking about my book at Mass tonight (we went to the Vigil) -- the readings and hymns contained so many of the events, references, and adjectives connected to Our Lady that inspired so many of the entries in my book. I felt so grateful for having the privilege of compiling the information in my book and presenting it to you in the gorgeous format my publisher @marianpresspublisher put together. Of course you have to know that I think naming a child -- boy or girl -- after Mother Mary is one of the best ways to keep her top of mind and ask for her constant intercession for your babies and your families! ... On this, the eve of one of her major feast days, I thank all of you who have bought my book! I hope it blesses you like it did me as I was writing it. And please know that I keep all of you -- my readers and followers -- in my prayers. I've always used @jenniferfulwiler's Saint Name Generator at the beginning of the calendar new year, but one of my diocese's ministries shared it on Facebook today because today is the first day of the Church's new year -- I like the idea of using it at the beginning of the Church's new year! I got one of my faves -- St. Bernadine of Siena, patron of my alma mater @sienacollege and of advertising and communications, among other things. I already love him, and I look forward to his presence in my life this coming year! I'd love to hear who you got (i.e., who picked you)! #catholic #saints #patronsaints #names
