Happy Easter Thursday! My darling dad gave me this mug when I was a little girl, and I'm definitely feeling it today in this all-boy household. 😅💙 #boymom Today I'm thinking about #names Beata, Pia, and Mariae -- so pretty, so faithy, so Marian. What names strike you as having a similar feel? #catholic #babynames #catholicnames #catholicbabynames #mariannames #marianbabynames
It was hard to visit the cemetery during the winter, so I was glad of the nice weather this week so I could stop by my grandparents' and in-laws' graves. There are always #names that grab my attention when I'm at a cemetery -- on this last visit I noticed Michael spelled what I believe is the Irish Gaelic way -- "Micheal" -- but could also be a misspelling by his parents, or maybe by the tombstone cutter ... And if by the former, does it count as a misspelling, or as an alternate spelling? Intention counts, I think, but even then, who cares, now, more than 100 years later? I also loved seeing a Miles born in 1884. Or is it 1864? The former makes me think it was Micheal's son. (I've often thought Miles could be a nickname for Michael -- if Miles was Micheal's son, is it possible Micheal used Miles as a nod to himself? As a twist on a Junior? Or is that too outside-the-box for the old days?) If that date is 1864, maybe Miles was Micheal's brother? And Jennie as a given name before the era of Jennifer -- was her given name Jennie? Could she have been an early Jennifer? Jennifer entered the top 1000 in 1938, but I don't know when it first started being used ... My husband's great aunt Jean went by Jennie when she was young, so it could be a nickname for that, but would a nickname go on a tombstone? On the second stone, I was caught by S. Catherine -- what could the S stand for?! The M. Catherine construction is familiar -- one of my cousins is M. Kate, for example, for Mary Kate -- but another first initial, especially on a woman, is far less common in my experience. So many fun namey things to ponder! So many questions! Cemeteries are a great source of name inspiration! When you visit, please also remember to pray for all those buried there. 💚 #namesnamesnames
