Birth announcement: Lucie Christine!

Buckle up guys, I have a bunch of birth announcements to share this week! 😍🎉😍🎉😍🎉

First up, I posted a consultation for Colleen and her husband back in May, and Colleen’s let me know that their wee one has arrived — a sweet little girl with the beautiful name … Lucie Christine!

Colleen writes,

Wanted to send over that our little girl was born yesterday afternoon! … Lucie Christine!

As pregnancy got closer and closer to the end, hubby and I both really felt grandmotherly pulls, so he was thinking of Margaret Alice a lot for his grandma Alice, while my Grannie, Evelyn Ruth, had me pulling for Lucie Ruth.

Since we weren’t settled on a name til we got time with her, we narrowed down to Lucie after a little while, but couldn’t settle for a middle name until we had a clearer picture of her whole arrival story and she stabilized.

My mom, Christine, has a history of super fast births and not feeling birth pain (I know, be jealous, of 4 kids her longest labor was 2 hours). I arrived at the hospital at 3pm thinking i was in for a long evening and …Lucie was here by 4:15pm. And she was a whopping 8lbs 12oz at 37 weeks!

My mom also has a lovely singing voice and miss Lucie’s breathing, while not exactly a good thing, kept being called “singing” by every nurse, doc, and us.

So. Lucie Christine. A grandmotherly pull because of HER grandmother, not either of OURS. We’re over the moon!

SUCH a great story!! And SO exciting they used one of the names I’d suggested!! 😀 And her sensitive little Angie won’t have to feel left out because she has a new little sister with a name ending in the “ee” sound! And I love Christine, both for its family significance and for it’s French-ness, just beautiful all around. (Also, totally jealous of Grandma Christine. “Super fast births and not feeling birth pain” — wha??)

Colleen has asked for prayers for her little Lucie,

It was a very fast birth and our green bean little girl turned out to need some interventions for low blood sugar and some slight trouble breathing. She didn’t get to room with me last night, and I’m hoping for the next nursery report to be one that she can be with me soon, even if we have some extra rules to follow.”

And another update,

Lucie is still in the NICU, very steady but docs won’t let her go unless her body keeps her sugar levels up, so prayers for continued good tests would be great! She’s the sweetest thing :)”

And finally, a cuh-RAZY+awesome twist to the story:

Also, a friend just sent me this…I got goosebumps. We don’t subscribe to the Magnificat, but apparently the communion reflection for yesterday (when we named Lucie) was right on target.

She asked if that’s where we got the name. Crazy!

Amazing right?!!

Congratulations to Colleen and her husband and big sibs Hanna, Angele, Nadia, and Leo, and happy birthday Baby Lucie!! (And please don’t forget to pray for her!)

Birth announcement: Felix Thomas!

Oh gosh you guys, I posted the birth announcement for Ana’s little Fred last week and even as I was posting it I had this little thought that kept waving its hand in front of my face that there was another birth announcement I had to post — another baby I’d done a consultation for — but I didn’t write it down anywhere and so indeed when I finally sat at the computer I couldn’t remember who that other baby was and I convinced myself that I must have just been thinking of Ana and all was well.

But then when I was away I remembered! And I was in such a panic that I’d dropped the ball on this handsome little guy that, as you can see, it’s the first thing I sat down to do this morning as I fired up my computer for the first time in days.

So! I’m delighted to announce that Arwen, whose consultation I posted back in April, has had her little guy — the wonderfully named … Felix Thomas!

Felix wasn’t one of the names I’d suggested, but several of you did, with Charlotte @ to Harriet Louise being the first! Nice job, lady!!

I’m just a-swoon over this little guy’s name, and all of his sibs together! He joins Camilla, Blaise, Linus, and Ambrose — what a set!

Congratulations to Arwen and Bryan and the whole family, and happy birthday Baby Felix! (You can read more and see his sweet little face over on Arwen’s blog!)

(I’m just a wee bit behind, so my Monday consultation will post tomorrow instead. So sorry for the delay!)

Birth announcement: Fred Bernard!

I am soooo behind on posting this!! I saw that this little dude was born a couple of weeks ago and I was all I have to post it on the blog! and then I kept not remembering to do so, or I would remember at weird times (like in the shower or at the grocery store) and trying to remember to do a thing by relying on my own mind and not writing it down somewhere is a recipe for never ever remembering to do it ever.

But! Miracle of miracles! Here on this gorgeous Saturday morning I’m actually at the computer when I remembered I hadn’t posted it and so I’m doing it now (and it’s so unnecessary I’m sure, as I’m sure you all already know that’s it’s happened, but every birth is a cause for celebration, so). I’m delighted to announce that Ana Hahn’s sweet little boy, whose consultation I posted back in January and whose name I shared in March, has arrived! Here’s the birth announcement Ana posted, and his birth story (I looooove birth stories, every single one makes me cry).

Congratulations to the whole family, and happy birthday Baby Fred!!

Birth announcement: Regina Gabrielle!

I posted a consultation for Kara and her husband back in April, and Kara’s let me know her little girl has arrived and been given the gorgeous Marian name … Regina Gabrielle!

She writes,

Just wanted to thank you so much again for your consultation. Regina Gabrielle was born [this past Sunday] morning at 7:19! 9 lbs 10 oz and 21 1/2 inches long. We are totally in love 🙂 .”

How beeeaauuutiful!! I LOVE Regina with Gabrielle — Mother Mary’s all over that name! 😀

Little Regina joins big brother:

Justin Michael

After St. Justin Martyr, and I’m so delighted to see siblings named Justin and Regina! So faithy and meaningful and underused!

Congratulations to the whole family, and happy birthday Baby Regina!!

Birth announcement: Evan Thomas!

We didn’t have to wait long to find out what the parents of Monday’s consultation ended up choosing — the mama has let me know that their little guy has been born and named the very handsome … Evan Thomas!

She writes,

Our lovely boy was born [and we] happily named him Evan Thomas.

Jude and Thomas held out as contenders until the end but Evan just had such perfect meaning and roots for us… And we felt it struck the balance of not being too popular nor too unusual.

Love that St. John and St. Ann are represented in our little family.”

I’m so delighted they use Evan Thomas! Such a perfect name for Riley Ann’s brother!

Congratulations Mom and Dad and big sister Riley, and happy birthday Baby Evan!!

Birth announcement: Gabriel John!

Remember that mama of this past weekend, who I asked you all to pray for because she was in labor? That was our dear reader Laura, who has agonized over so many great boy names since she found out her first ultrasound, which seemed to indicate she was having a girl, was actually wrong. Her wee man has been born and named and I’m beyond delighted to announce: Gabriel John!

Laura writes,

Everything went awesome!  We named him Gabriel John. Up till the last few days I was still throwing around Peter, Gabriel, Henry, Leo and Jude. In he end I knew I wanted to keep our Biblical boy theme. But Peter was still in contention even during my labor. With him coming on a Saturday, the Marian Gabriel seemed like the perfect fit.

As for his middle name all pregnancy I had felt so comforted by the letters of St John and my father-in-law’s name is John. With it being Father’s Day weekend, using John seems even more perfect. While I don’t find the flow perfect, I’m excited to add St John as an intercessor for our family!

Sooo wonderful!! I have such a soft spot for Gabriel and the nickname Gabe, which I’ve seen Laura reference during her deliberations. I’d love to list her older kiddos’ names (Gabriel’s #7!), but I forgot to ask if I could and I don’t want to delay this announcement any longer. So I’ll leave it to Laura to leave them in the comments if she’d like. I will say that Gabriel is her fifth boy, and all her boys have New Testament names.

Updated to add: Laura said I could list the others’ names!

Paul
Clare
Mark
Katharine
James
Andrew

So great, right?!

Congratulations to Laura and her husband and all the big brothers and sisters, and happy birthday Baby Gabriel!!

Birth announcement: Rosemary Valentine!

{This is not the baby whose mama emailed this morning to say she was in labor.}

I posted a consultation for Tara and her husband back in December, and revealed the name just a few days later (before the baby was born), and now I have the happy privilege of letting you know that beautiful little Rosemary Valentine has been born!

Tara writes,

You did a consultation for us a while ago – we picked a name back then but thought you would like to see a picture of little Rosemary (Rory) Valentine, born on April 27. Thanks for your blog — I love reading the names and dreaming of naming our next kiddo!

If you remember, Tara had explained:

We LOVED your name choices…and then decided to go with something different. We couldn’t agree on Stella Maris as a first or Stella as a first and Maris as a middle so we started talking other Marian names and landed on Rosemary “Rory” Valentine. We like Rosemary because the rosary has become a prayer devotion for us more recently and there was no arguing over whether it should be one or two names. Valentine is a family name on both sides of our family.”

You know Marian names are my very favorites, and Rosemary is such a great one! I love Rory as a nickname for it too!

Congratulations to Tara and her husband and big sister Kateri Cynthia, and happy birthday Baby Rosemary!!

Birth announcement: $alvad0r R0s3!

A mama I did a private consultation for has let me know her baby has arrived — a little boy with the amazing name S@lv@d0r R0$e! (She has requested alt characters for privacy.)

She writes,

Our son $a1vad0r R0$e arrived on April 1st — a very speedy (40 mins!) but peaceful homebirth. In many of your postings you talk about parents feeling a sense of “rightness” about a name. Well my husband settled on $a1vad0r R0$e and that was it. I love it and it suits him beautifully. We’d been expecting him to arrive early March, as my first son was 3 weeks early but $alvad0r was on his own schedule and arrived right at 41 weeks. We didn’t realize the Easter-appropriateness of his name until much later. So now we have our Ca$ and S@l, although we generally use their full names.”

I love love seeing Rose in the middle spot — it’s a family name for this couple and I think it really works for a boy when paired with such a great masculine first name as S@lv@d0r (am I being crazy changing up the characters each time I type out his name? Haha! Can’t be too careful!). And it’s a Jesus name — it means “savior”! Love it!! And paired with “Rose,” which can be a verb — an Easter meaning indeed!!

This little guy joins big brother:

Cas1m1r Cull3n

Which is also full of faith and family significance for them, and such a handsome name. Great job, Mom and Dad! Congratulations to the whole family, and happy birthday Baby $a1vad0r!!

Birth announcement: Jude Alden!

You might all remember the *daddy* of a consultation I did for an actual dad, Cameron, and his wife Chelsey, back in April as they struggled between their favorite name versus a naming tradition that wasn’t yet a tradition but would be cemented with this wee baby. Cameron has let me know his son has arrived and been given the handsome name … Jude Alden!

Cameron writes,

Peace be with you! Our little boy made his debut on 6/10/16 at 7:40am after a long and difficult labor.

His name … Jude Alden! Ever since we discussed the name and you mentioned that we may not get to use it again, we decided to stick with it. When we saw the little guy, it totally clicked and fit with him.

He weighed 8lbs and 6.5oz while at a length of 20.5inches. Chelsey is doing well and recovering from the long process!

Thanks again for everything and especially the prayers.”

So they decided to go with their favorite name, and I’m so glad they did — as Cameron says, “When we saw the little guy, it totally clicked and fit with him.” How wonderful!

Congratulations to new parents Cameron and Chelsey, and happy birthday Baby Jude!!

Birth announcement: Alice Joan!

A mama I did a consultation for a few months ago has let me know her little girl has arrived and been given the beeaauutiful name … Alice Joan!

She writes,

Hi Kate!

Wanted to write you a quick email and let you know that our baby girl has arrived.  Alice Joan was born three weeks ago, and we all adore her.

As J and I discussed names, we decided that we would be sad if we didn’t use Joan.  It is a name that has been on our list since I got pregnant with our first in 2010, and we didn’t want to let the opportunity pass to use it.  Having decided on the middle name, we started over looking for a first name.

I had really wanted something Marian.  We looked at Marian names until our eyes crossed, but we couldn’t find one that we both loved.  We came across Alice almost by accident, and J liked it!  It was the one name in the hundreds (no exaggeration!) that we looked at that we agreed on,  so Alice Joan it was.

Thank you again for your time, and your help.”

Alice Joan is so sweet and chic at the same time, and so many great patrons! It occurred to me that they might still claim a Marian connection through Joan, as it’s a feminine form of John, and St. John the Evangelist is a pretty Marian guy, what with having been entrusted with and to Our Lady by Jesus Himself.

Alice joins big brothers:

Dillon George
Liam Matthew

I love how they all have an L in their first name, a nice subtle way of tying together a sibset. All in all, a great job! Congratulations to the whole family, and happy birthday Baby Alice!!
